The Italian Serie A football club AC Milan has announced that striker Brahim Díaz is currently undergoing surgery to repair his cruciate ligament and will miss the remainder of the season.
Díaz, who was signed by AC Milan in January 2018, made his debut for the club in a Champions League game against Juventus on March 29th, 2018.
He had been out with a knee injury for several months before joining the club. He scored three goals in just six appearances during his first two seasons at the club, but struggled to find consistency and form over the following years.
Injuries have plagued Díaz throughout his career, including a season-long suspension in 2017 due to an ankle injury. He returned to the field in 2018,Premier League Frontline but was again sidelined for a long period due to injuries.
Despite his struggles, Díaz remains highly rated by many scouts and has been linked to a number of top clubs across Europe. His absence could be particularly devastating for AC Milan, as he is one of their most important players off the bench and a key cog in their attacking lineup.
It is unclear when Díaz will return to action, but it is hoped that he will be able to resume training soon and get back into the squad. The club will also need to work closely with his medical team to ensure that he fully recovers from his injuries and returns to his best form.
In the meantime, AC Milan will look to replace Díaz with a new striker and continue to search for a replacement for him in the upcoming transfer window.
